Curriculum Integration in Action: Community Building

Each year, TCS second grade students culminate their Native American unit with research projects on a specific tribe and a hands-on Thanksgiving feast. Students prep and cook this special meal together as a community. Cooking for the feast entails reading, following directions, health, social studies, math, and language. It is also a great way to build lifelong friendships! This week, 2nd grade girls gathered at the Arias family home to make pies for their feast. This is a new interpretation of a very old event which our forefathers participated in when they first arrived in America.
