You’re Invited: Veterans Day Chapel

The Christ School warmly invites all TCS families, friends, and military veterans to join us for a special Veterans Day Chapel on Monday, November 11, at 8:15 a.m. We are honored to welcome guest speaker Carlos Cuevas, a retired United States Marine Corps Infantry Officer, to share his inspiring story of service and leadership.

Mr. Cuevas dedicated 15 years to the Marine Corps, serving in various operational roles, leading 50 to 800 personnel, that took him to locations across Southeast/Southwest Asia, the Middle East, Europe, and Australia. His distinguished career included deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he led operations critical to U.S. military efforts. Carlos retired from active duty in 2015 with the rank of Major.

Carlos’s military leadership journey includes many noteworthy assignments:

  • 3rd Battalion, 3rd Marines (Kaneohe Bay, Hawaii)
    • Rifle platoon commander, company executive officer, company commander
  • Marine Corps Security Forces Battalion (Norfolk, Virginia)
    • Security cadre liaison officer
  • Third Fleet Anti-Terrorism Security Team (Norfolk, Virginia)
    • FAST platoon commander
  • 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines (Twentynine Palms, CA)
    • Company commander
    • Military operations advisor to Iraq Ministry of Defense
  • Marine Corps System Command (Quantico, VA)
    • Acquisition team leader
  • 2nd Battalion, 4th Marines (Camp Pendleton, CA)
    • Battalion Operations Officer

Since transitioning from military service in 2015, Carlos completed a Master of Business Administration at the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College. After graduate school, he began a civilian career in the Construction and Defense industries. In 2020, Carlos returned to federal employment as a civil servant with the Department of Defense and currently serves in the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs.

Carlos stays involved with various organizations such as the Camaraderie Foundation, the Central Florida Marine Corps Foundation, the 1st  Marine Division Association, the Marine Corps League, the Navy League, Leadership Orlando, the Crummer School of Business – Mentor Program, and FourBlock. Carlos enjoys spending time and traveling with his wife, Erika, and their four children. His goal is to stay rooted in faith, seek the Lord’s guidance in every aspect of life, and make the most of every opportunity to give back to the community.

We hope you’ll join us for this meaningful Veterans Day Chapel, where we will take time to reflect on the sacrifices made by our veterans and celebrate their dedication to protecting our freedoms.
