Get to Know Alissa Plaisance
Each one of our families have benefited from the experience and knowledge of Alissa Plaisance, TCS Student Support Specialist. In her role, Alissa provides strategies, support and ideas to teachers and students as well as teaming with parents to ensure all students at TCS are successful. She collaborates with Speech and Language, Occupational Therapy and other types of specialists to provide services to students on campus. In addition, Alissa collaborates with Mrs. Gibbs to support our COMPASS program. “I also assist our teachers as we explore the concept of growth mindset at TCS,” she says. “It has been exciting to share growth mindset ideas and resources with teachers and families!”
Alissa is a Florida native and keeps busy with her husband Chris and daughters Marin, TCS 2nd grade student, and Nova, age 2. “We love to spend family time at home together,” she says. Alissa began her career in education as a classroom teacher for students with learning disabilities and Autism Spectrum Disorders. She also worked as a Learning Specialist at Florida Diagnostic Learning Resource Systems providing professional development to teachers throughout Central Florida.
“I love being part of The Christ School Faculty,” says Alissa. “I have worked in public and charter school settings and this is by far the most professional and loving environment. It is a blessing to be here. I am most thankful to be able to collaborate and learn from my teammates in the Academic Office. Mrs. Gordon and Mrs. Lail are fabulous people bringing great ideas to TCS.”
“TCS has been a wonderful home for my family as well,” Alissa continues. “I have been in awe of the foundation for learning that Marin has received here at TCS. Each of her teachers over the past three years have been amazing. They have given her a love of learning and also come alongside me as a parent with guidance and wisdom when I have needed it. I believe it takes a village to raise a child and The Christ School community has played a wonderful part in loving on Marin.”
