Get To Know: Alissa Plaisance
This summer, The Christ School Academic Office team was enhanced with the addition of Alissa Plaisance as Student Support Specialist. Since her arrival at TCS, Mrs. Plaisance has been hard at work helping our students grow and thrive. Her role has many components, all designed to help every TCS student be successful in the classroom. Mrs. Plaisance provides support and oversight to the Compass program (including the special area weekly class for all students and an enrichment class that provides additional challenges), and assists with individualized student academic plans for students with identified learning needs. She often helps parents who may have an academic or social concern about their child to connect with tutors or counselors to set them on a path for success. She serves as a bridge between parents, teachers and therapists (including speech, occupational, and physical) to help students who may need these services. She spends time observing classrooms to support teachers with classroom management and instruction. She also helps connect our teachers with the right resources for continued professional development opportunities.
Mrs. Plaisance has worked in professional development for educators and families with a focus on Universal Design for Learning, Assistive Technology and Behavior Management. She is also an experienced classroom teacher for students with disabilities. She earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts in Exceptional Education from the University of Central Florida and has earned an Elementary and Autism Spectrum Disorders Certification from the University of Central Florida.
