Get to Know – Steve Eastwood
Steve Eastwood joins The Christ School team this year as 7th and 8th grade Bible teacher. Well known and liked by many of our students through his work in student ministry at FPCO, Steve is a welcome addition to our school for our students and staff alike.
“I was involved in the ministry of Young Life in high school and college,” says Steve. “After leading alongside a close friend for several years, we both joined the staff at First Pres. Orlando and I served in the student ministry for 11 years.”
“I felt called and led by the Lord to teach at The Christ School, and I continue to rely on Him daily,” says Steve. “Beyond that, I’ve always had a heart for teenagers and for teaching, and I’ve admired TCS from a short distance for many years! My favorite part of teaching Bible is watching my students engage with the text and understand that the living God is actively pursuing them in the midst of it all.”
“So far, my favorite thing about TCS has been the consistent daily time spent with the students,” he says. “I was pumped to go to Southwind with everyone for the Middle School Retreat and I’m hoping for more opportunities to leave the classroom together. I also welcome the opportunity to serve and equip parents in the discipleship of their children.”
Steve and his wife, Amber, have been married for 13 years. They have three children and a new puppy. “I love being with people, exploring the world, and enjoying music, movies and sports. I LOVE snow and cold weather!” says Steve.
“I don’t really have a favorite verse, but Psalm 23 has been a very important passage recently,” says Steve.
