Love of Learning

As students progress into middle school, some find math and science to be a little daunting. Fortunately for our TCS students, 6th grade Math and Earth Science Teacher, Nicole Kleinsteuber, loves to share her passion for learning with her students; showing them that these subjects are interesting and fun. “I have taught 2nd, 4th and 6th grades,” she says. “I love teaching middle school because the students have great senses of humor! They keep me laughing which makes our learning even more fun.”

 “As a little girl, I used to play teacher all the time,” says Nicole. “I even made pretend work assignments for my stuffed animals that I could ‘grade.’ When I went to college, I had my first volunteer experience in the classroom and knew I had found my calling!”

“My favorite thing about teaching at The Christ School is the children,” says Nicole. “I love seeing how they help one another and love God. It is a blessing to learn and acquire new knowledge along with them.”

Nicole is always excited to bring science to life for her students through field trips and interactive experiments in her classroom. “I love exploring the beauty of God’s natural world in earth science with children,” she says. “One of my favorite days is when we take the students snorkeling in Rainbow River, where we can experience seeing the groundwater bubbling out of the earth. I also love rearing insects in our classroom to allow our students to explore Entomology; it provides such a sense of wonder. I find everything in earth science fascinating!”

Nicole and her husband, Eric, have two children who are TCS students, Sawyer, who is in 4th grade and Elizabeth, who is in 2nd grade. “It is wonderful to have my own children right down the hall from me during the day. I know they are in classrooms with teachers who have a true love for what they are doing. I am thankful they are at a school that grows their faith, creativity and intellect each day.”

Nicole shares her two favorite Bible verses:

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell  in the house of the Lord
Forever.  – Psalm 23

Make a joyful shout to the Lord, all you lands!
Serve the Lord with gladness;
Come before His presence with singing.
Know that the Lord, He is God;
It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves;
We are His people and the sheep of His pasture.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving,
And into His courts with praise.
Be thankful to Him, and bless His name.
For the Lord is good;
His mercy is everlasting,
And His truth endures to all generations. – Psalm 100
