Love of Teaching
TCS 3rd grade teacher Shay Roberts’ love of teaching shines through her classroom. “I enjoy working with children and have since a young age,” she says. “I knew I wanted to be a teacher for as long as I can remember.”
“My favorite thing about teaching 3rd grade is the students. They love to learn and their joy is contagious! They make teaching so much fun,” she says. “Our favorite things to do in our classroom are GoNoodle or Kahoot. They are online games that review things we have learned. I also love our trip to Epcot every year. We learn so much about many different countries.”
“The best part about my job is being about to teach my students about the love of Jesus and to show His love through my actions,” she says. “I also have such wonderful co-workers at TCS!”
Shay earned her Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood/Elementary/Special Education from Samford University, where she played Division 1 Soccer. She and her husband, Drew, have 2 children, Leah, age 5, and Eve, age 3. “We enjoy traveling, beach days, and eating yummy new foods,” Shay says. “I love to cook and to work out doing Crossfit in my spare time.”
Shay shares her favorite Bible verse. “My favorite verse is Psalm 23, I memorized it as a kid and still know it word for word,” says Shay.
The Lord is my shepherd;

He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.
