Student Support, by Alissa Plaisance – Coping with Grief and Loss
As all of us cope with grief and loss, our feelings can be overwhelming. It is important for our children to have an outlet and a way to express themselves as they maneuver through the feelings that can come up over the coming days and weeks. Here are a few resources that may be of value to you.
New Hope for Kids offers free grief counseling to the community. If you are a parent of middle school age students, I highly recommend this book by Will Hutcherson and Chinwe Williams. It is a short but important read and it gave me some tools to better connect with students that may have feelings of dispair. We were also blessed by Redeemer and Grace Orlando Counselors last week. If you are interested in seeing one of them or another organization, here are quick links to counselors in our community equipped to help us all navigate through helping our children.
