The Christ School Establishes the Lynn Stansberry Award for Teaching Excellence
Honoring a Legacy of Joyful, Christ-Centered Teaching
Orlando, FL — The Christ School is proud to announce the establishment of the Lynn Stansberry Award for Teaching Excellence, a new annual honor recognizing outstanding teaching that reflects the heart, creativity, and Christ-centered mission of our school. This meaningful recognition is made possible through the generous gift of Frank and Lynn Stansberry, whose enduring commitment to Christian education has shaped the lives of countless students and families.
The award is named in honor of longtime educator and beloved leader Lynn Stansberry, who served The Christ School with distinction after a remarkable two-decade career in public education. During her tenure in the classroom, Lynn was the recipient of five Walt Disney World awards for creative teaching, a reflection of her passion for innovation and excellence. At TCS, she taught second grade before becoming the school’s first assistant principal, retiring in 2004.
“Lynn’s legacy is woven into the fabric of our school community,” said Theresa Opsahl, long time colleague of Mrs. Stansberry. “She modeled what it means to teach with joy, lead with humility, and love students with the heart of Christ.”
Each year, beginning in 2025, the Lynn Stansberry Award for Teaching Excellence will be presented to a faculty member who exemplifies the qualities Lynn brought to every role—joyful dedication, professional curiosity, strong relationships, and a deep commitment to the mission of The Christ School.
We are profoundly grateful to Frank and Lynn for their generosity and vision in making this award possible. Their gift ensures that the spirit of Christ-centered teaching will be celebrated and carried forward for generations to come.
