Service Learning

Service learning is an integral component which defines the culture and community of The Christ School. The Christ School believes that service at all grade levels provides a unique opportunity to learn the Biblical value of serving others and teaches children to be community leaders. Our vision for graduates of TCS is that they are committed to being others-oriented. To accomplish this goal, we provide students with hands-on, age appropriate opportunities for service throughout their K-8 journey.

One Great Day of Service

An important tradition at The Christ School is our annual event, One Great Day of Service.  This is a is a day in which all TCS students, teachers, staff members and parent volunteers spend an entire day volunteering at a variety of locations in the Central Florida community. Our students experience the joy of showing compassion and giving our gifts and talents to those who can benefit from them.

Each grade assists with age-specific activities at various community service facilities including city parks and non-profit community organizations with the goal of making a difference to those in our local community. In addition to providing much needed volunteer services, The Christ School’s students enhance their own educational experience by learning more about the community in which they live.

Students and volunteers from The Christ School serve at locations throughout Central Florida each year including:

  • First Presbyterian Church of Orlando
  • City of Orlando Fire Station No. 1
  • Green Up Orlando, Langford Park
  • Matthew’s Hope
  • Society of St. Andrew’s at Long and Scott Farms
  • House of Hope
  • Clean The World
  • Harvest Time International
  • Equine Angels
  • Pet Alliance of Orlando
