We will be offering three middle school clinics this spring for Soccer, Basketball and Volleyball.
These clinics are for 5th-7th grade students who would like to play for TCS next year on our middle school teams.
The clinics will be run by our head coach in each of these sports.
Each clinic is four days. The last day of the clinic will give each head coach a chance to evaluate and see who they have moving forward into next year’s middle school teams.

Eight Grade Language Arts students recently took a field trip to the Holocaust Museum in Maitland. Following their visit, students discussed why the Holocaust is an important lesson that should be studied in school. The information and ideas gathered will be used for their Holocaust panel presentation that focuses on finding hope in times of despair. Here are some great points made by the students:

• The purpose of studying the Holocaust is to teach children that one person can make a difference and people possess the power to make their own choices and control their own behaviors.
• When we allow prejudice to thrive, lives are at stake, and as shown during the Holocaust, millions of lives were lost due to one man’s crazy ideology.
• Bystanders are just as guilty as perpetrators.
• By studying the Holocaust, children can learn how to confront present concerns involving loyalty, peer pressure, conformity, belonging, and scapegoating. When faced with these concerns, children can remember the fate of the Holocaust victims, and rather than choose to ignore the wrongdoings of others, they can take action and help to create better situations for those who are victimized.
• It is important to study and remember the mistakes made in the past so that we never repeat them.
• In an effort to honor Holocaust victims, we can celebrate the freedom to choose to act in the face of prejudice so that fateful events such as the Holocaust will never happen again.

We are thrilled to welcome Adriana Bentz to The Christ School family as our Director of Business Operations. Adriana graduated from the University of Central Florida with a master’s and bachelor’s degree in accounting and has experience in both auditing and accounting. She enjoys finding creative solutions and implementing process improvements. In her prior role, she was a Controller for a public company in Research Park for over 10 years.

One interesting fact about Adriana is that she was born in Brazil. She has lived in various states including California, Washington, Georgia until finally settling down in Florida. She grew up in Merritt Island enjoying many space launches and the beaches. While at UCF, she met her husband Dave and has lived in Orlando ever since. Adriana and Dave have two grown sons, Brad and Scott.

In her free time, she enjoys hiking, traveling and working on mastering the art of baking cakes. She is passionate about bible study and international missions having had the opportunity to travel to China to minister to local Christians. Adriana is excited about joining The Christ School and in being part of the school’s bright future.

Juliana S. Bloom, Ph.D. is a licensed psychologist and pediatric neuropsychologist based in Orlando, Florida. Dr. Bloom currently provides assessment, therapy, and consultation services.

Dr. Bloom received her B.A. summa cum laude from Emory University and her Masters of Education and doctoral degrees from the University of Georgia. While at UGA, she conducted clinical research on the neurobiological basis of dyslexia and ADHD.

Dr. Bloom completed her internship and postdoctoral fellowship at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where she worked with children and adolescents with complex medical and neurological illnesses, including stroke, epilepsy, brain tumors, cancer, and traumatic brain injury, among others.

Dr. Bloom’s areas of clinical interest include dyslexia, ADHD, neuropsychological outcome and school re-entry following acquired brain injury and medical illness, medical traumatic stress in patients and families, and pediatric stroke. She is the author of seven peer reviewed journal articles, five invited book chapters, and more than 40 conference presentations. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and the International Neuropsychological Society. She loves spending her free time with her husband and two children.

Casting Call for TCS Students to join Seussical, the Musical!
Seussical debuted on Broadway in 2000 and is now one of the most performed shows in America! Grades 4-8 are invited to join this fantastical musical extravaganza, abridged for young performers and full of fun, colorful characters. Tony winners, Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty have lovingly brought to life all of our favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie, and a little boy with a big imagination – Jojo. 

The Christ School is excited to partner with Truthbase Theatricals to bring this opportunity to The Christ School community! The performance is scheduled for April 19, 2023.

Grades 4-8: All participating students will be cast as a role (or multiple roles) in the show. Rehearsals will take place on Wednesdays from 3:00 to 5:30 pm starting January 18 for 13 weeks. Students who wish to audition for a lead or featured role are invited to audition separately on Monday, January 23, from 3:00 to 5:30 pm. Students cast in lead roles will also need to be available on the first Monday of each month (February, March, April) from 3:00 to 5:30 pm for additional rehearsals. Preview the full rehearsal schedule, audition materials, and register to participate here!

Grades TK-3: Stay tuned for more information about Seuss-themed Academy classes this spring! Seuss Academy classes will be one hour in length on Wednesdays. Grades 2-3 will perform as The Who’s (tiny citizens of Whoville) in Seussical and TK-1 will perform their Showcase as pre-show entertainment.

Our 8th grade team is headed into the tournament as the #2 seed.
Their first is Saturday, January  21, 1:15pm. A win here will move them to the championship game at 2:30pm. Both games are at The First Academy.

Our 6th grade team finished the season as the #6 seed.
Their first playoff game is Thursday, January 19, 5:30pm at Windermere Prep. A win here moves them forward to a 10:00am game at The First Academy.  A win in the second game will move them into the championship game at 11:00am.

We are thrilled to welcome Brittney Reinholt, M.A. to The Christ School family as our School Counselor. Brittney graduated from Colorado Christian University with a Masters in Mental Health Counseling, has her undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in Language Education, and has experience in both pastoral and clinical counseling. Brittney is passionate about helping children and adolescents navigate the challenges they face. She enjoys being a listening ear, coming up with practical solutions, and instilling confidence and resilience to help youth overcome challenges. She loves partnering with families and being a cheerleader for children in their learning environment. 

Through Brittney’s own counseling journey, she has first-hand knowledge of how healing it is to be seen and heard by a caring counselor. Her personal experiences with counseling and the healing it brought in her life led her to pursue counseling as a career. Brittney and her husband (also a counselor) served together in full-time ministry for nearly a decade and had the opportunity to live in Spain and travel throughout Latin America and Europe. She gained significant experience through her ministry involvement and travels. 

In her free time, Brittney loves to go to the beach and spend time with her husband, Trevor, and their Goldendoodle, Teddy. She is involved at her church and enjoys exploring new restaurants. Brittney is looking forward to being a part of The Christ School and a part of your child’s social emotional learning journey.

Lindsay is a third generation Orlando native who holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication and Religion from Florida State University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University in Virginia.

For almost a decade Lindsay has led the business operations and volunteer/membership relations for a nonprofit educational association (AHEPPP Family Engagement in Higher Education) that advocates for student success through family support and involvement. Prior to that, Lindsay worked in college Student Affairs with alumni, families, and student leaders on several university campuses. She is now ready to bring her expertise to the primary education level.

Both of her daughters are current TCS students (Lofton & Liberty) and her son (Lion) is excited to join TCS in kindergarten next year. She is a former military spouse who has recently returned to Orlando after her husband completed his 21-year career in the Navy.

She is crazy about Jesus, the beach, tacos, and historical fiction. She loves to cook, but hates to bake, and thinks Mexican food is God’s gift to humanity. Lindsay and her husband David are covenant partners at First Presbyterian Church of Orlando. She is excited to lead the development efforts at TCS as the future has never been brighter or more exciting!
